Photo gallery - Bauska Castle and Rundale Palace

Recently I visited the city of Bauska. Among "must do" for a historian or a individueal interested in history are the Bauska Castle and Rundale Palace. Click on the links for more information.

Monument from the "Independence war" during 1918-1920 with aftermath of Latvia becoming a independent and sovereign nation-state.

Monument dedicated to the period when Latvia was occupied by the Soviet Union, Nazi-Germany and later forcefully  incorporated into being a part of Soviet Union.

Monument to Latvian Waffen-SS soldiers that were fighting within the Nazi-German armed forces. Mostly they were being forcefully recruited in order to be used in the fight against the Soviet Red Army.

Astonishing paintings. At the same time many paintings presented within the Palace were drawn by unknown painters.
